Purpose:
The International Singles Symposium will bring together scholars or experts who work with, research and or study the single adults experience and dynamics, so that they may share their findings in a spiritual and academic setting.
The symposium will provide a forum for Single Adult Leaders and Workers to discuss in an academic setting many of the trends and issues affecting Singles and Single Adult Ministries.
The symposium will:
Provide singles and singles leaders with information about singles adults lifestyles, trends and needs in a non threatening setting.
Provide relevant and cutting edge tools and skills to adequately minister effectively to the various types of singles.
Expose the heartbeat of singles so that those working with and for singles can better help singles maximize their God given potential while living in the season of their singleness.
Provide Singles Adult Leaders with the tools necessary to start and maintain a healthy Single Adult Ministry.

Dennis McGuire
Dr. G. Dennis McGuire is currently the General Overseer for the Church of God. He has served as Assistant and State Overseer. He has pastored churches throughout the South East and received awards for his commitment to ministry throughout the years. He and his wife, Derosa, are a tremendous blessing to the Church of God. |

Paul Conn
Dr. Paul Conn has served as president of Lee University for 19 years. Prior to becoming president, Dr Conn served on the Lee College psychology faculty for 15 years. During his administration, the university has seen significant growth: enrollment has increased from 1000 to over 3800, the size of the budget has quadrupled, and the physical campus has been substantially enlarged and rebuilt. Dr. Conn lives in Cleveland, Tennessee, with his wife Darlia. He is has three married children and eight grandchildren. |

Cheryl Johns Bridges
Dr. Johns has been an Instructor in Christian Education at Northwest Bible College, Lee College and has participated in the Garrett Teaching Fellowship at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She has been a curriculum writer for Pathway Press and has provided leadership training in Christian Education for several local churches. She is actively involved in New Covenant Church of God where her husband serves as Pastor. |

Chris Goins
Chris Goins is the Senior Pastor of the Metropolitan Church of God in Birmingham, Alabama, and is passionate about seeing every local church realize its full redemptive potential. He and his wife Janet have three children, Chelsea (17), Caley (13) and Camryn (5) and reside in Hoover, Alabama. |

William Lee II
Reverend William Lee, II attended the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Lee College where he received his Bachelors of Science in Biblical Education with emphasis in Pastoral Studies. In 1995 Rev. Lee was appointed National Evangelist in the Church of God. He has traveled extensively throughout the USA and abroad preaching in Conventions, Camp meetings and Conferences. He and his wife, Sheila, currently pastor the New Leadership

Contact Usament Studies from Azusa Pacific University, and attended Seminary at International Christian Graduate University in California. He also attended the College of Financial Planning of Denver, Colorado and completed the Larry Burkett Christian Financial Teacher Training. Russ is presently Vice-President of Financial Counseling of The Lampo Group Inc. He has been in Financial Counseling for 17 years. He has been married for 19 years to his wonderful wife, Joy, and is the proud father of 17 year old Becca. |

Dr. Clifford & Joyce Penner
Dr. Clifford and Joyce Penner are internationally recognized sexual therapists, educators and authors. Joyce is a registered nurse and clinical nurse specialist, holds a B.S. in nursing from the University of Washington. Her master's degree in psychosomatic nursing and nursing education is from UCLA. Clifford is a clinical psychologist, received a B.A. from Bethel College in St. Paul Minnesota, earned an M.A. in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and holds a Ph.D. from Fuller's Graduate School of Psychology. The Penners have authored 10 major books and 2 video series and currently live in Pasadena, California. |

Tom Doolittle
Dr. Tom Doolittle has been involved in Leadership in the Church of God as a pastor through state activities and positions. He has planted two local churches and assisted with a third, two of these being Hispanic church plants. Currently he works with the External Studies Program at Lee University in the development of the Degree Completion Program in Christian Ministries. |

Dennis Franck
With compassion for single and single-again adults and an understanding of single adult issues, Dennis emphasizes becoming a whole person spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. He is a past Board Member of the Network of Single Adult Leaders (NSL) and an accomplished writer. He was appointed National Director of Single Adult/Young Adult Ministries for Assemblies of God in 2000. Dennis and his wife Jill have two children, Tim and Jessica. |

David King
David is the Director of Positively Single Network in Birmingham, which he co-founded in 2000. He is a Churches Liaison Coordinator for Christian Aid, the UK-based international development agency, and has traveled extensively throughout the Midlands and North West, teaching and preaching in churches. David, who is single, is also the chair of the New Leadership

Ruthlynn Webster
Rev. Ruthlyn Webster, MSW, LCSW, ACSW is an Ordained Minister in the Church of God. She is currently the Director of Programs at Kristi House, a Children's Advocacy Center for child victims of sexual abuse and their non-offending parents, located in Miami, Florida. She is also working towards her Ph.D. in Social Work. Ms. Webster is particularly proud of her four children, who have followed in her footsteps, choosing professions that help our society |

ISS Welcomes discussion in both large groups and workshop settings. The symposium offers something for everyone, as topics range from financial planning to singles and sexuality. Other areas of focus include divorce recovery, single again, parenting, myths of singleness, and singles and well-being and others.
